Pulau
Jerejak is located at Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang. This island are not so popular
compare to others island in Malaysia. But, don’t get wrong buddies, Pulau Jerejak
have its own attractiveness that makes this island a place you should choose. If
you know about the history of this island, you will wonder how this island
looks alike. Pulau Jerejak covered with thick seaside
forest aging approximately 4,000 years, hosts about 210 species and 71 families
of plants.
FLORA AND FAUNA
There are many types of plants can be found here, the main ones
are Dipterocarp and Mangrove Swamps. Dipterocarp is a timber species found on
hilly areas of the island. It usually forms a high proportion of the emergent
and main canopy strata of the forest. A Dipterocarp forest is richly
diversified and contains timber such as Meranti (Shorea spp.), Mersawa
(Anisoptera spp), and Keruing [Dipterocarpus spp) which are highlypriced. There
are also Mangrove Swamps in the area namely by the Mangrove trees. Mangrove
trees are dominated at the wetlands and because of the saltier seaside conditions;
they are surrounded by a watery wilderness. This area provides habitat and
breeding ground to organisms such as crabs and jellyfish.
Besides, there are also a variety of animal species here on Pulau
Jerejak. There are White Bellied Sea Eagles, Monitor Lizard and Long Tailed
Macaque. The White Bellied Sea Eagle, also known, as Haliaectus Leucogaster is
black in color with a white spot underneath thus the name white bellied. Its
major resting site is at the southern tip of the island. This is an ideal place
for bird watching as this is also the perching area for many other bird species.
HOW TO GO TO PULAU JEREJAK?

Jerejak Resort Ferry
This is the easiest way to
reach Pulau Jerejak. It goes between the Pulau Jerejak Jetty and Jerejak Resort
Jetty. The ferry is run by the Jerejak Resort. You can get the details of ferry
schedule and fare at Penang Island Jerejak Jetty page. The tickets are sold for
return journeys. The Jerejak Resort sells packages that include a set meal and
free use of resort facilities. You can buy ticket at the counter; retain the
ticket for your return journey. The ticket price is RM6.00 for adults and
RM3.00 for children.

Public transportation
There is Rapid Penang CAT,
a free shuttle bus in Penang. The bus service runs at regular 12 minute
intervals, from Monday to Friday (7:00am – 7:00pm), Saturday (7:00am – 2:00pm)
and no service on Sunday and public holidays. You also can use taxi as another
alternative to go to Pulau Jerejak. Do not need to worry because many taxi and
buses in Penang every hour. You just need to stop at Pulau Jerejak Jetty before
you can take a ferry and go to the island.

2minutes from hotel to Pulau Jerejak Jetty and 15minutes from the airport to
the island.

This hotel is situated in
front of the Terminal Bus Sungai Nibong, Bayan lepas, Penang. This hotel
located between Georgetown and Batu Ferringhi. It takes 5minutes from here to
the Pulau Jerejak.
HAMMER BAY
Where can you get a place to eat near your motel?. The
answer is Hammer Bay. Hammer bay is a restaurant that provides variety of fresh
seafood. There are variety of packages you can choose to eat. The price range
RM70 and above according to the type of seafood you choose. You also can choose
the seafood own your own at the aquarium. There are many types of fish, crab,
cuttlefish, prawn and don’t surprise if there are also turtle at here. Perhaps
some of the customers have requests to eat that (non-Muslims). I don’t really
know about this, but you can try to come here and feel it by your own. While
eating at here, you can see the sun set view because this place located near beach.
Such are amazing view for you to spend a wonderful environment while eating
with someone special, your family and friends. That’s a great experience
because I have been here with the people I love. From here you also can see the
Penang Bridge and the ships that in and out from the harbor. The fresh air,
beauty scenic really relaxing your mind.
